Who Do You Choose?
I don’t know if you’ve heard, but tomorrow is Election Day. Election years are always interesting to me because people start showing who they are. We see nasty posts on social media and arguments in the comments… I don’t know about you, but I’ve never changed my opinion based on a social media post. When I share blog posts from this site, it’s not to change anyone’s mind but to provoke thought and hopefully encourage others to seek a relationship with Jesus.
I’m not sure if our major political parties will ever be able to coexist peacefully. But as a Believer, I put my trust in the one true King, Jesus Christ. What does that mean, exactly?
Be still, and know that I am God, exalted among the nations, exalted on the earth.
Psalm 46:10 CSB
It means I trust He will make everything right in His good time. This world is only my temporary home, and I trust in His promises.
There have been many times in my life when I’ve had to ask myself a difficult question: Who do you put your trust in? I’d usually say all the right things if anyone asked, but the reality was that I wasn’t putting all my trust in God. I was putting my faith in other people and even in myself. When I did that, I was telling God I knew better than He did.
I have sung “I Surrender All” in worship many times. It’s a powerful song with a powerful message. I’ve surrendered my life to Christ, but that doesn’t mean I don’t still struggle with stress, fear, anxiety, doubt, and everything else that seems to come from politics and other heated topics in our country. And it doesn’t mean I never question or have moments of worry about my finances or other things. But when I stop, slow down, and focus on Him, I realize how foolish it is to carry those worries. Time and again, He has shown me that He’s got it covered.
It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in humanity; it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in nobles.
Psalm 118:8-9 CSB
That doesn’t mean the outcome is always clear, and it also doesn’t mean everything in life works out exactly how I want. It means I trust that all things will work out to His glory.
Don’t let your heart be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me.
John 14:1 CSB
Go Vote!
It may seem like I’m against voting or elections. I’m not at all. I was taught from a young age that we owe it to those who fought for our freedom to go out and vote, and I still believe that.
We Are All Messed Up
There is no messiah or savior running for president. He’s already on His throne. He’s already won.
You will keep the mind that is dependent on you in perfect peace, for it is trusting in you. Trust in the Lord forever, because in the Lord, the Lord himself, is an everlasting rock!
Isaiah 26: 3-4 CSB
Finding Peace in His Sovereignty
With everything going on, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and uncertain. But as Psalm 46:10 reminds us, sometimes we must “be still” and let God be God. This means quieting our hearts, stepping back from the noise, and trusting He is in control. No matter who sits in earthly positions of power, our true hope and peace are found in Christ alone. So, as we cast our votes and watch the results unfold, let’s choose to rest in Him, knowing He will be exalted, no matter what.
